All Marketers are Liars !!!
Author Todd Falcone | 27.04.2007 | Category Internet Marketing
What a great title for a book! Seth Godin wrote a fabulous book on marketing…actually several, including “The Purple Cow”, “Permission Marketing”…and of course, “All Marketers are Liars.” You can check out his blog at: http://www.allmarketersareliars.com/
In network marketing…the lying is CRAZY! Every time I pick up a publication and check out the advertising it makes me want to run to the bathroom and puke. I understand CLEARLY the importance of using powerful words, attention grabbing headlines, bonuses, testimonials and other important elements to make up a strong marketing campaign, but some of the B.S. I see gives our industry a tarnish.
I thought about writing an ad like this.
Check out this (made up) Sample Ad that shows some of the “hype”:

Now…obviously that is NOT a real advertisement. But, there is certainly some reality to what is being marketed out there. If you plan on advertising your program, BE REAL, BE HONEST, use POWERFUL words, but don’t make it sound like a bunch of baloney! All you’re going to attract are baloney eaters!
There is a DISTINCT difference between powerful copywriting and BS. Don’t be a B.S.er, it only leads to a crappy taste in the mouths of your prospects.
Patience in Network Marketing
Author Todd Falcone | 26.04.2007 | Category Sponsoring Tips
I’ve been thinking lately about some of the other elements that separate big producers in this business from those that become statistics or simply produce nothing.
Obviously it takes consistent daily actions to create production. You’ve all heard me say that the only thing that really matters is prospecting. If you are consistently talking to new people every day about your business, you will produce results.
However, it happens at different paces for different individuals. And…if it isn’t happening as fast as you ‘thought’ it would or would like it to, then you may get frustrated, discouraged, think the business doesn’t work, think that you may not be right for the business, or even quit.
You have to understand something. To some extent, you are pre-programmed from birth to fail in network marketing. Yes…you heard me correctly. You see, over time we have learned to expect things to happen rather quickly. Microwave ovens, fast food, and lotteries create instant, or at least potentially instant gratification. The way we are programmed to earn wages is the same way. We work two-weeks, we get a check.
In network marketing, it simply doesn’t happen that way. We are fighting are instinctual programming from the moment we sign an application.
Learn to understand the Virtues of Patience. Patience is a good quality of human conduct and of moral excellence for a reason. Those who can exercise patience are generally rewarded handsomely.
Tips on Patience:
1. Don’t compare the speed of your success with others.
2. Understand (clearly) that success takes TIME.
3. Get in your mind that this is a business, not a job. It takes time to DEVELOP a business. Think about your employer. Did his or her business instantly appear as a success story, or did it take time? You see…if you are an employee in an EXISTING business, you didn’t see nor experience the time, commitment and patience it took to develop it. What you do see is your weekly check…aka instant gratification.
4. If it isn’t happening for you quickly enough, take it one or these two ways. Either fight your programming and stick in the game or be accepting in the reality that it takes time to develop a substantial business.
Over fourteen years ago I started building my first network marketing business. The first 18 months I produced almost nothing. For some unknown reason to me at the time, I stayed in the game. My patience has served me well…and I hope your does too!

Network Marketing and 3-way Calling
Author Todd Falcone | 23.04.2007 | Category MLM Training
3-way calls. What are they? Why? And, how to do them right? There is definitely a right way and a wrong way to go about using three-way calling. In order for you to get good at this whole gameof prospecting, you have to master this simple tool now.
First off…what is 3-way calling? Two answers…the technical side is this. Three-way calling is a service that you can have added, usually through your local phone company that allows you to be able to connect with an additional party, other than the person you are already on the phone with. It costs just a few dollars a month, and you cannot live without it…period. You absolutely, positively MUST have 3-way calling added to your phone service if you expect to thrive and survive in the network marketing industry. There are no if’s or but’s about it. You’ve got to have it. If you think you cant afford it, forget one latte a week, and you’ve got it nailed.
Here’s the basic gist of how it works. You’re on the phone with a person…and you now want to bring in another person on the line. You simply press the “Flash” button on your telephone. In some cases you may not have a flash button, so you simply press the “Talk” or “On” button. When you have 3-way calling on your phone it will give you another dial tone once you have pressed the flash button. You simply dial the number of the other person you wish to reach, then press the “Flash” or “Talk” button again, and you are now on a 3-way call. To disconnect and end the call with the party you have brought into the call, you simply press the “Flash” or “Talk” button again and it disconnects your second caller.
Here is a BIG NO-NO that many novices make that you must remember to never, ever do. Here’s the scenario. You’re making dials to your prospects with you upline or sponsor on the telephone…meaning you are on the phone at the same time. You’ve got your list and you’re making calls together. You hit the “Flash” button to go dial one of your prospects and forget to FLASH BACK to your sponsor. You then get their voice mail or answering machine and leave a message, and THEN flash back to your sponsor. You then proceed to have a conversation…where many times you are talking about that very person you have just called and left a message for…only to hear a “beep” that says, “your recording is complete”. In fact…most of the time, you probably won’t even hear that. What did you just do? You just left a message of you and your sponsor talking on the telephone to your prospect. Bad news…bad impression. Do not make that mistake.
A Man and His Tools
Author Todd Falcone | 19.04.2007 | Category Sponsoring Tips

I just bought a new piece of property today on the Cowlitz River…one of the best steelheading and salmon fishing rivers in the state.
So…I had to go out and buy myself a chainsaw and a gas weed whacker to get some trees out of my way and make room for my “trailer home.” I never thought I’d have a trailer, but since that’s all I can put on this property, it’ll have to do. This is what you call 5 Star camping.
While I was playing with my new tool (the chainsaw), I got to thinking…the only way for me to cut down my trees is to:
1. Have the right tool, and…
2. Make sure I keep it sharp.
The same thing goes for us in network marketing. You’ve got to use the tools that are available to you. They are there for a reason. So…if your company or upline leadership is providing you useful tools, USE THEM.
And secondly, be sure to keep on sharpening your skills. You can’t cut through a tree with a dull saw. And…you certainly can’t expect to master the game of network marketing if you don’t constantly refine your skills…aka “sharpening your saw.”
What is and What’s in a Squeeze Page?
Author Todd Falcone | 19.04.2007 | Category Internet Marketing
It’s not about making fresh juice…unless you call leads “fresh juice”. Heck…I guess you could call it making fresh juice, since a Squeeze Page is designed to do just that….generate fresh blood, new leads, more people to talk to about your business. The term “Squeeze” comes directly from the website’s intent, to “squeeze” information out of you.
It may sound bad saying it that way…but it is critically important to do if you are looking to track any of your online marketing efforts. The name most people would know this type of website as is a “capture page” or “lead capture page”.
The purpose: to pique your interest, create a high level of curiousity, give out just enough information to make you drool, but never enough to satiate you, and to make you put in your name and email address (in most cases) to request MORE of whatever that site was promising to deliver.
Sites that give out way too much information without a capturing mechanism are simply a waste of one’s marketing dollars.
What’s in a good Squeeze Page??
(here’s just some of what may or may not be included in a Squeeze Page)
- A powerful Headline that GRABS your Attention
- Lots of Sizzle
- Powerful Words that Tantalize you.
- Testimonials and Validation: Proof
- Bullet Points that Tell What you’re Going to Get if you Opt-in
- Bonuses
- More Proof
- A Form to Opt-in and Receive More Information
- Graphics to Make it Look Pretty
- Short Video or Audio Clips
Some or ALL of this may appear on a Squeeze Page.
Again…the PURPOSE is to PIQUE interest, make ‘em drool and get them to opt-in.
Think about this the next time you decide to implement an Internet Marketing campaign.
Update on Legacy for Life Comp Plan Changes
Author Todd Falcone | 18.04.2007 | Category Breaking MLM News
I just had the opportunity of speaking directly with Larry Pike, who is the Chief Operating Officer of Legacy for Life. In fact, hung up with him just seconds before writing this post.
Mark Yarnell called me last week mentioning that the powers that be at Legacy were discussing me…primarily because at one point I was one of the leading Presidential Directors with the company.
The company has gone through several changes over the past few years after being stopped “dead in their tracks” because of some very poor decision making from the prior President who is long gone and I won’t mention in this post.
In my conversation with Larry…he mentioned to me that there are several people calling him who are leaders in the network marketing profession inquiring about the changes to the new binary which they started this month.
They are hanging in there and very eager to initiate new growth both in the American and Asian markets with their new binary comp plan. You’ve got to hand it to them for staying steadfast on their objective of bringing their product line to the marketplace.
Stay tuned for more news on them.
When You Feel Like Quitting
Author Todd Falcone | 18.04.2007 | Category Inspiration
From the Desk of Todd Falcone:
What professional hasn’t felt like giving up? What leader hasn’t stumbled? What icon hasn’t been troubled along the way? What sports pro hasn’t had losses?
Think about if for a minute. If you are having a bad day, week, or month, understand that that’s just life. It’s the way it is and always will be.
When your business has got you down, look up and walk tall. When you feel like complaining, give praise instead. When people are quitting, bring someone else in. When volume growth is slow, work harder to make it grow. When people say no, talk to more of them until you get a yes. When products are late, there are typos on your corporate website and customer service has you on hold for more then eleven minutes, don’t trip out and have a tizzy, relax…breath and stay positive.
You have CHOICES. Choose to stay. Choose to stay positive. Choose to make a difference. Choose to do.
You see…successful people do. They never stop doing. They always do, even when they don’t feel like it. Winners never stop, no matter what. They just keep chugging along until.
Yes…peppy as this talk might be, it is very true.
Life is an emotional roller coaster…and so is your network marketing business.
It’s real simple. If you want something bad enough, you will ALWAYS figure out a way to get it…no matter what.
How bad do you want success? How bad do you want freedom?
I’ve had some extremely tough times and challenges in my business career, including losing over $250,000 in annual income that I had already worked to create. There have been many times that I felt like giving up and doing something else, but I didn’t.
You know why?
Simple. Where else can you go where within one to three years you can create 6-figure a year residual, recurring income while sitting at home in your gym shorts?
No boss. No commute. It’s all good!
